APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Misleading errors when trying to load the security discovery
data ( SDD ) during import of an ESM file.
    For example,
! Information: The CICS region used for SDD data capture had
XPPT=, but the ESM file did not have any defined XPPT class.
    On another situation,
! Warning: The CICS region used for SDD data capture had
XTRAN=NO, but XTRAN=T#XXXXX was used to extract data in the ESM
    file.
This region has XPPT=NO as well as XTRAN=T#XXXXX.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • When creating an External Security Manager (ESM) file, either
directly from RACF or by modifying an existing ESM file, that
has names that use '**' instead of '*' for a wildcard,
attempting to load the file into the Security Discovery Editor
    fails.

Problem conclusion

  • When creating an ESM file with names that use '**' instead of
'*' for a wildcard, the ESM file now loads into the Security
Discovery Editor with the '**' being correctly identified as
the name of a generic item and handled the same as a name with
    '*'.
    .
This fix will be made available in Version 5.5.46 (34.0.6) of
    the CICS Explorer.
