Problem summary

• OpenJ9 v0.51.0 introduced an unexpected change to the contents
  of the os.version system property for Semeru 21 on z/OS. This
  was due to an unintentional change in the z/OS API used by the
  OpenJ9 JVM to obtain the operating system version information.
  The __osname()  API was used before the change, switching to
  uname() after the change.
  For example, with Semeru 21.0.6.0 on z/OS 3.1, the os.version
  property's value was:
      03.01.00
  But with 21.0.7.0 it changed to:
      29.00
  This may cause problems for applications which rely on the
  format of the version string.
  

Problem conclusion

• OpenJ9 has reverted back to using __osname() to populate the
  os.version system property, thus restoring the original
  behaviour
  .
