APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Client IO may hang, escalating to path loss and
potential IO failures.
Problem may be seen when buffer resources are low on
VIOS for VFC host but client is running peak IO
workload (256K IO size and more).

Local fix

  • Reboot the VIOS.

Problem summary

  • Lpars might see IO hang with VIOS 4.1.1.
IO hang might translate to IO failures/crash if MPIO is not in
play.

Problem conclusion

  • Design fix to address the hang condition in VIOS VFC host
driver.
