APAR status

Error description

  • The NIM spot creation and check may report below error
    message if the environment NFS_RESERVED_PORT is set in
    /etc/niminfo:
    
    warning: 0042-175 c_ckspot: An unexpected result was
    returned by the
    "/usr/lpp/bos.sysmgt/nim/methods/c_mkbooti"
    command:
    
    nfso: 1831-543 The client system call
    nfs_cntl(4,536909200,
    64) failed.
    

Local fix

  • Removing "NFS_RESERVED_PORT" from /etc/niminfo.
    

Problem summary

  • NIM spot creation & check can fail with an nfso error if the
    SPOT is at a lower level (below 730 TL01) than the NIM master.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Do not fail the nfso cmd for irrelevant errors.
