IJ46893: SHUTDOWN HANGS WHEN CONSOLE REDIRECTED TO A FILE APPLIES TO AIX 7200-05

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Shutdown hangs if console redirected to a file on a
  filesystem
  mounted over a second filesystem.
  

Local fix

• A workaround would be to switch the console back to the
  original tty
  ie:
  swcons
  before issuing a shutdown command.
  Another workaround, even after it hangs is to open a
  console window at the HMC
  that will allow the shutdown to continue.
