IJ44695: BMXAA4049E ON SPECIFYING THE VALUE IN WORKORDER.DESCRIPTION.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• BMXAA4049E happens on specifying the value in the description
  field of a Work Order after increasing the length of DESCRIPTION
  attribute for WORKORDER object from Database Configuration
  application.
  
  STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
  1) From [Database Configuration], open WORKORDER object.
  
  2) On Attributes tab, change the value in Length field for
  DESCRIPTION attribute from 100 to 200.
  
  3) Save the record.
  
  4) Turn the admin mode ON and apply the configuration changes.
  Then turn the admin mode OFF.
  
  5) From [Work Order Tracking], click [New Work Order] button.
  
  6) Enter a description longer than 100 characters.
  
  7) Click [Save Work Order] button but the following error is
  displayed.
  
  BMXAA4049E - The value specified exceeds the maximum field
  length that is allowed for this attribute:
  
  EXPECTED RESULT:
  [Same as Object] and [Same as Attribute] for
  WORKVIEW.DESCRIPTION should have the value "WORKORDER" and
  "DESCRIPTION" respectively so that the work order should be
  saved without any errors.

Local fix

• Increase the description length in both WORKORDER object and
  WORKVIEW object.
