IJ35772: STUCK REPORTS LEADS TO BROS REPORTS SERVER CRASH AT PEAK USAGE HOURS

Error description

  • On clustered/ load balanced server, when one report gets stuck
    in the queue, other report requests to the same instance gets
    stuck and the users face 'Report Requests Overload' issue.
    
    
    
    STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
    
    At peak hours hundreds of BIRT reports are being executed.
    During these hours the JVMS are going down and causing issues
    for the users.
    
    
    RESULTS:
    
    This results in users getting the following error messages
    around the same time:
    
    1. A large number of reports are processing at this time/ Submit
    your report at a later time or schedule your report so that it
    can be automatically processed and emailed to you"
    
    2. " The server has encountered an unknown error. Reload the
    application and try again. If the problem persists, contact your
    system administrator".
    
    3. Direct print says: "Report failed to execute. Report
    Overload."
    
    EXPECTED RESULTS:
    
    
    No stuck reports and stability of Reports JVM server.

Local fix

  • Clear the reportjob table with the stuck entries temporarily
    resolves issue.
