APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Error Message: A SIGSEGV/GPF is received when interface dispatch
from PortableAOT is patched (if the calling target is
recompiled).
.
Stack Trace: N/A

Local fix

  • -XX:-PortableSharedCache option can be used to work around it

Problem summary

  • When interface call target is recompiled, the calling code might
need to be patched.  When portableAOT is enabled, the calling
code was generated for POWER8 (same as POWER9 in form). That is
different from POWER10 form. As a result, if it is patched
according to POWER10 form, it can crash.

Problem conclusion

  • the patching logic is changed to consider POWER8 form even in
POWER10 environment.

This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases:
   8    SR6 FP36  (8.0.6.36)
