Error description

  • Using CICS Explorer, I had aggregated a terminal that was using
some filters on the region name. All was working fine with
refreshes without any issue until the next day. I left the CICS
Explorer running over night. In the morning, I refreshed the
aggregated view once again and received a message stating that
I was not authorized. I switched to a already open non
aggregated view of CICS regions, refreshed that without an
issue which then allowed me to refresh the aggregated view.

It seems the JVMServer had returned an LTPA token previously that
was then used on the next request. However, having been unused
overnight, the token had naturally expired but the graphql
request was not made aware and so it returned a NOTAUTH
response. Refreshing the none aggregated region view also used
this expired token but detected the token had expired and
authenticated again to receive a valid token that could then be
used without an issue on a refresh of the aggregated view.

Local fix

  •

Problem summary

  • When using a GraphQL connection, if an LTPA token was used for
authorisation, when the LTPA token expires and the next request
returns a 401 response, the connection does not re-authenticate.
It returns an unauthorized response to the user instead.

Problem conclusion

  • The CMCI GraphQL connection has been updated so that, in the
case when the LPTA token expires, the connection now properly
    re-authenticates.
    .
This fix will be made available in Version 5.5.0.12 of the CICS
    Explorer.
