IJ26858: JAVA SOCKET GATEWAY DOES NOT RECOVER FROM CONNECTION ISSUE

APAR status

• Closed as fixed if next.

Error description

• The Java Socket Gateway loses the connection to it's socket
  target and fails to reconnect. Have to clear out SAF files and
  restart gateway to re-establish connection to target. The
  target doesn't not show errors or any indication that the
  listening socket was dropped. Nothing is done on target end for
  recovery. Will upload gateway log file and gateway props file.
  Initial error occurrs at 23:06:06 on 8/1(log time). Log snippet
  below:

  free up socket resources after sendEvent failure Socket
  closed
  2020-08-01T23:06:06: Warning: W-GJA-000-000: Received a
  timeout will attempt to retry the sending of the event
  data
  
  Comments from L3:
  The gateway code will be updated in
  these two aspect:
  
  (1) Synchronize socket creation/closure to
  protect state variables.
  
  (2) Error-handle socket close
  exception to ensure state variables are duly updated.
