APAR status

Error description

  • Attaching files when file system has lost privileges to the
    folder FAILS, but no error shown to user.
    
    ACTION
    TAKEN:
    replicated in local environment
    
    Steps to
    replicate:
    Configure attachments to a folder structure like
    C:\DOCLINKS
    Attach a file to a subfolder, like ATTACHMENTS. It
    will go in C:\DOCLINKS\ATTACHMENTS and works fine.
    At the file
    system level, remove the privileges to the ATTACHMENTS folder.
    Open the folder properties, go to the Security tab and remove
    the privileges.
    Back in Maximo try to attach a new file. Maximo
    will not throw an error, yet, in the SYSTEMERR log you will see
    something like:
    [1/30/20 16:33:43:907 BRST] 0000015c SystemErr
    R java.io.FileNotFoundException:
    C:\doclinks\attachments\IMG_5564.JPG (Access is denied.)
    Maximo
    accepts the entry, however, no error and it appears in the list
    of attached files
    If you try to view this file from Maximo you
    will get an error (because the file is not there)
    
    restore the
    privileges to the folder and the attachments will work
    again.
    
    Note: If you remove the privileges from the root folder
    (DOCLINKS) Maximo DOES throw an error when trying to attach.
