IJ19038: HA SYNC FAILS IF DYNAMIC LPAR ALWAYS START RESOURCE GROUPS = NO

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If "Dynamic LPAR Always Start Resource Groups" is set
    to "Yes", cluster sync succeeds. But if it is set to
    "No", cluster sync fails with these messages --
    ERROR: An error occurred while checking if Resource
           Group(s) rg1 is able to run on node node1. If
           this problem persists, please use standard
           problem reporting procedures.
    ...
    cldare: Failures detected during verification. Please
            correct the errors and retry this command.
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Verify and sync failed with below errors when
    "Dynamic LPAR Always Start Resource Groups"
    cluster tunable is set to "NO".
    ERROR: An error occurred while checking if
    Resource Group(s) RG1 can run on node <node1>.
    If this problem persists, please use standard problem
    reporting procedures.
    
    ERROR: An error occurred while checking
     if Resource Group(s) RG1 can run on node <node2>.
    If this problem persists, please use standard problem
    reporting procedures.
    
    ERROR: At the time of verification, no node (out of 2)
    was able to acquire sufficient resources to run
    Resource Group(s) RG1.
    
    Problem2:
    While moving RG to another node ROHA Resource
    acquisition getting failed and following error observed in
    hacmp.out log file
    clhmccmd: ERROR: HMC r2r1-hmc returns HSCL909F error code when
    running command "chcodpool -p Power9_Pool -m
    r3r1m1-9080-M9S-SN781CFC8 -r proc -o add -q 4":
    [ROHALOG:29557080:(453.047)] HSCL909F The number of Mobile CoD
    processors to add exceeds the number of available Mobile CoD
    processors in the Power enterprise pool, which is 2
    

Problem conclusion

  • Solution for problem1:
    Made code changes to handle invalid results in manage roha
    function.
    and processing verify and sync without any error.
    Solution for Problem2:
    Required changes done and while RG moved to another node
    ROHA Resource acquisition getting success.
