Error description

  • When cluster services are started on node1 then clver
is called to verify multiple conditions including the
status of resources on all cluster nodes.
If for example a volume group is varied on one of
remote nodes and the volume group is not handled by
PowerHA then this is apparently being recognized as
    an error condition.
The following message is displayed on node1:

WARNING: node2 has volume group name_vg varied on.
This volume group is part of resource group name_rg,
which is in the OFFLINE state on node2.
Would you like to bring the resources of this resource
group: name_rg offline, so that you can then move
the resource group to a node other than
    node:node2 [Yes / No]:

The question may be misleading and it has been
requested to make this described more clearly
and readable. Basically, if No is chosen as the
majority does then the shared resources consistency
    may be compromised.

Local fix

  • There is no work-around to this issue.

Problem summary

  • While starting the cluster services, following message is
not clear when some of the resources are online without
RG is online on a node.
WARNING: sapcl01b has volume group sap_vg varied on.
This volume group is part of resource group sappr1_rg,
which is in the OFFLINE state on node sapcl01b.
Would you like to bring the resources of this
resource group:sappr1_rg offline, so that you can then
move the resource group to a node other than
    node:sapcl01b [Yes / No]:

Problem conclusion

  • Modified the existing verification message to make it more clear

Temporary fix

  • select yes option
