Error description
Error Message: The JVM crashes with an illegal instruction fault or segmentation fault in a method which uses an Unsafe.compareAndSwapObject or similar compare and swap method. . Stack Trace: N/A . This issue only happens when running with concurrent scavenge and compressed references are used.
Local fix
The issue can be worked around using the -Xjit:disableRecognizedMethods option. Note however that using this workaround will degrade performance of the JVM.
Problem summary
The problem is caused by faulty logic generating a read barrier under compressed references when running with concurrent scavenge.
Problem conclusion
The JIT has been updated to prevent the crash from happening. . This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases: 8 SR5 FP20 (8.0.5.20) .
