APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • There is a possibility of the RMC process losing track
of an override set in "/var/ct/cfg/ctrmc.maxpktsz", and
sending packets larger than the override should allow.
This has been a potential exposure for several years, but
has only been seen recently. For now it is suspected to
simply be a rare random occurrence; this record will be
updated if specific configurations or activity can make
it more likely to be hit.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • RMC may lose track of the customer-specified packet size
limit, as set in the optional configuration file
    "/var/ct/cfg/ctrmc.maxpktsz," resulting in RMC sending
larger packets than the customer's network can handle.

Problem conclusion

  • The logic has been corrected to always obey the packet
    size configuration file.
