IJ04266: POSSIBLE HANG DURING POWERHA VERIFY & SYNC AND OTHER PROCESSES APPLIES TO AIX 7100-05

Error description

  * USERS AFFECTED:
  * Systems running the AIX  Technology Level
  * with bos.cluster.rte below the 7.1.5.30 level.
    **************************************************************
  * ERROR DESCRIPTION:
  * PowerHA Verify & Sync, clcmd, or other processes that
  * utilize clcomd may hang.
  * Large numbers of zombie processes for clcmd, clmgr, or
  * similar commands may be seen if this is occurring.
  *
  * Restarting clcomd with stopsrc/startsrc will clean up zombie
  * processes and allow clcomd to process new events again;
  * however the issue could re-occur again later, until the fix
  * is applied.
    **************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION:
  * Install APAR IJ04266.
  * Prior to fix availability, an interim fix is available from
  * either
  * ftp://aix.software.ibm.com/aix/ifixes/ij04266/
  * https://aix.software.ibm.com/aix/ifixes/ij04266/
  * Installation of the ifix does not require a reboot.

Local fix

• Stopping and restarting clcomd (stopsrc -s clcomd;
  startsrc
  -s clcomd) will allow clcomd to process new events, and
  clean up existing zombie processes.  However, it will not
  prevent further hangs.
  

Problem summary

• Operations involving clcomd, such as PowerHA Verify & Sync and
  clcmd commands may hang.
  

Problem conclusion

• Remove unnecessary connection conflict logic that led to an
  infinite loop of clcomd refreshes.
