IJ03095: RENAME FAILED CAUSING THE FILE TO MOVE TO .PTRASH

 

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • In AFM & OBJECT DR setup rename failed causing the file
to
move to .ptrash. Then that file is being removed from
.ptrash and the inode is freed without leaving any tracks
on next eviction.

Reported In:
Spectrum Scale 4.2.1

Known Impact:
AFM rename fails. Files are moved to .ptrash directory
intermittently over GPFS backend.

Verification steps:
Timing issue. It's not easy to reproduce.

backend. This happens with AFM caching modes.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • Fixed the code to connect the directory dentry to root properly
and to get the correct lookup results.
