Error description

  • When performing reorder from Inventory application against a
storeroom, all items in the storeroom having a current balance
of 0, with no reservation or BACKORDER are suggested for
reorder. The reorder the tems are set to 0. Further more,
when there are reservations which cause backorder reorder
quantity suggested is backorder quantity + 1.

This seems to be already referenced in:
    http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21424249

As per the referenced link (swg21424249)

"In response to multiple client scenarios, a new business rule
and functionality has been implemented in 7.1.1.5. In this new
version, a PR will NOT generate in the scenario where the
available balance is 0 and less than 1.

In the case where the available balance is greater than the
reorder point, the reorder routine will NOT execute for the
item. The 'Reorder Point +1' rule only will be applied to serve
as the basis for setting the order quantity. Once reorder is
initiated, the process will reorder to achieve a balance
equivalent to 'Reorder Point + 1' at a minimum. "

I am interested in the new business rule which will not
generated PR/reorders when available balance is 0 or less than
    1.

Also it should be noted, that as test we did try setting the
reorder point to -1 (negative 1) which resolves the reorder
issue, however it causes other issues in receiving application.
    (BMXAA4129E - The record for Item=<itemnum>,

     the problem:

    1. create a new item "IBM TEST" --> Save Changes and Change to
    ACTIVE

    2. Add the item storeroom to "CENTRAL" and DEfault bin = DEFAULT
       with curRENT balance of 0

    3. Go to Inventory --> Status= ACTIVE --> Click Reorder Details
--> Make sure Reorder? Checked | Reorder point =0 | Lead Time
    =0 | EOQ =1 | Order Unit = Each

    4. click on Reorder --> Reorder items with following selected
(Consider Contracts when creating PRs/POs, Run in Backgroud
    Mode), click Preview

    6. PROBLEM: The quantity of the item being reordered is set to
    1.(Cancel at this point)

Why would the system suggest to buy 1 if there is no demand for
the 1 ? Also orders should be based on demand, there is no
    demand for this item yet.

Next scenario will use the same item except will create demand
and reorder quantity is incorrect (when considering demand).

    7. Create a new workorder "IBM TEST" --> Plan tab, select
Materials, new Row --> Enter the item "IBM TEST" and storeroom
"CENTRAL". Enter quantity = 2 and Save changes and APPROVE the
    workorder.

    8. Go Inventory Usage application --> Filter for "Created for
WO - 1204 " for IBM TEST --> Check the Reservations Type field,
you will see BACKORDER for the newly created workorder.

    13. Go back to Inventory filter for "IBM TEST"--> click on
Reorder, Reorder items with following selected (Consider
Contracts when creating PRs/POs, Run in Backgroudn Mode), click
    Preview

    14. PROBLEM: The quantity of the item being reordered is set to
    3.

The demand is for 2, yet it's asking for 3.

Problem conclusion

  • A new property 'mxe.reorder.reorderwithout1' has been
introduced to bypass the 'Reorder Point +1' rule when this
    property is set to 1.
