Error description

  • After applying Java 1.3 SR17, UQ73928, and later, users may
see the following messages during installation:
    pax: FSUMF073
J1.3/bin/libawt.so: user not authorized to restore extended attr
    "l" J1.3/bin/libawt_g.so"
as well as for some other modules.

Local fix

  • The extended attribute "l" is new to SR17 and users are required
to have read access to the BPX.FILEATTR.SHARELIB FACILITY class.

If read access to BPX.FILEATTR.SHARELIB is not available,
these messages will be issued during installation.
However, the JVM will be still be usable but performance
with IMS will not be optimized.

Customers will only see this message if they do not have read
access to the BPX.FILEATTR.SHARELIB facility and use the
pax -ppx option to install the JVM. Using the pax -ppx
option (vs. pax -pp) will attempt to restore all of the
attributes associated with the files in the archive.
