series. Please contact your appropriate support personnel for
specific information on models of the PC 300 and PC 700 series
that are supported by the IBM 4690 OS.
    .
    GENERAL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
    1. Configure the ISA Store Loop/NVRAM Adapter switch setting as
       documented in the following table:
       +-------------------------------+----------+
       | Switch Settings | Loop |

       +-------------------------------+----------+
    2. Circle the 1 or 2 on the ISA Store Loop/NVRAM Adapter label
as appropriate (located on the adapter bracket) and place the
       adapter in an available slot.
    3. If installing a Multiprotocol Adapter for ISA, refer to
"Multiprotocol Adapter (MPCA) for ISA Installation" below.

    .
    7. Disable the Virus Detection (under 'Start Options' within the
Configuration/Setup Utility). Otherwise, an error message
       will appear after installing 4690.
    8. For systems using Multiprotocol Communications Adapter for
       ISA (MPCA)
       a. Disable the interrupts listed above used by the serial
ports (under 'Devices and I/O Ports' within the
          Configuration/Setup Utility).
       b. For PC 700 systems only, disable the Business Audio (under
'Devices and I/O Ports' within the Configuration/Setup
          Utility).
    .
MULTIPROTOCOL ADAPTER (MPCA) FOR ISA INSTALLATION
Refer to the Multiprotocol Adapter for ISA User's Guide during
    installation.
    1. Configure the MPCA as the first or second adapter as
       appropriate.
    2. Circle the "1" for the first MPCA, or the "2" for the second
MPCA on the adapter label (located on the adapter bracket).
    3. Install the MPCA in any available slot.
NOTE: In the configuration for 4690, BSC 2 is defined for a
BSC attachment to the first MPCA. BSC 1 is defined for a
BSC attachment to the second MPCA. Also, with each MPCA, one
interrupt will be used and will not be available for a COM
port. i.e. The first MPCA will require the use of IRQ4 and
COM 1 will not be available for system usage. Adding a
second MPCA will use both IRQ3 and IRQ4 thereby both COM 1
and 2 will not be available.

IBM AUTO 16/4 TOKEN-RING ISA ADAPTER INSTALLATION
The following instructions were created using LANAID version
    1.40:
    1. After installing the IBM Auto 16/4 Token-Ring ISA Adapter in
any available slot, boot Disk 1:LANAID shipped with the
       adapter.
    2. Select Configuration using LANAID, bypassing the warning
about running LANAID from Disk 1.
    3. Select Continue when prompted
    4. Select "Standard Install"
    5. Select "Configuration"
    6. Select "Manual Configuration" (Use ALT-M)
    7. Set the Interrupt Level to 10 (Use Cursor and Tab keys to
        navigate)
    8. Set the I/O Address to A20-A23 (Primary)
    9. Set the ROM Address to D2000-D3FFF
    10. Set the RAM Address to D4000-D7FFF
    11. Set the RAM Size to 16 KB
    12. Set the Auto Sense to Disabled
    13. Set the Data Rate to the appropriate speed
    14. Set the Remote IPL to Disabled
    15. Set the Bus Width to 16 bits
    16. Store the configuration
    17. Select Continue when prompted (Do NOT return to save as a
        PnP Configuration)
    18. Press OK under Configuration settings applied
    19. Select "Done"
    20. Select "Exit"
    21. When prompted for CNTL-ALT-DEL, power off the system. You
can then power the system on.
    .
IBM REALTIME INTERFACE CO-PROCESSOR MULTIPORT INSTALLATION
For installing the IBM RealTime Interface Co-Processor Multiport
adapter, use the following steps. Refer to the "Hardware
Installation - RealTime Interface Co-Processor Multiport" topic
in the Guide to Operations RealTime Interface Co-Processor
manual that was provided with the IBM RealTime Interface
    Co-Processor Multiport adapter.
    1. Copy the file ICAAIM.COM into the ADX_SPGM subdirectory
located on the C: drive. This file is on the diskette
provided with the RealTime Interface Co-Processor Multiport
       adapter.
    2. If you plan on using SDLC communications, copy the file
RICCSSZ.EXE into the ADX_SPGM directory located on the C:
drive. This file is on the diskette provided with the IBM
RealTime Interface Co-Processor Extended Services Enhanced,
version 1.02 or higher, software package.
    3. Set Address Switch 1 to indicate which adapter is being
installed. The first adapter is physical card 0 and the
second adapter is physical card 1.
    4. Verify that the jumper on JP1 (PROM Jumper) is set correctly.
    5. Set the Interrupt-Acknowledge level (JP15) and the
       Interrupt-Request level (JRA, JRB, JRC, L1, L2, and L4)
       jumpers for interrupt level 11.
    6. Verify that the jumpers on JRA, JRB, and JRC (for M1 and M2)
are set for the memory on your ARTIC adapter.
NOTE: The ARTIC adapter must have at least 512Kb of memory.
    7. Place jumpers on JRA, JRB, and JRC so that BW is set for an
        8 bit bus.
    8. Place jumpers on JRA, JRB, and JRC so that ED is set for a
        two-edge expansion slot.
    9. Verify that the jumpers on JRA, JRB, and JRC so that BN is
set in the factory setting of Memory Bank 0 only.
    10. Place a jumper on JP12 for a two-edge slot.
    11. Place jumpers on JP8 and JP9 for remote clock from the
interface board. This ensures that the source for the
communications clock is remote from the EIA electrical
        interface board.
    12. Place jumpers on JP2 and JP3 for inbound clock.
    13. If ordered, install any feature cards on your ARTIC adapter.
    14. Install the ARTIC adapter in a two-edge slot in your
        controller.
    15. Attach the 10 foot (3m) external cable (FC #6246) to the
external connector on the rear of the ARTIC adapter.
    16. Attach the I/O device cables (built or acquired) to the
25-pin connectors on FC #6246 (attached devices must match
        your configuration plan).
    17. Run the RealTime Interface Co-Processor Multiport
diagnostics to verify your setup and to print, for the
        record, the options configuration.
    18. Activate the new controller configuration and test the
attached devices that are using the ARTIC adapters.
