Error description
** * Language Environment support information is being placed into the document II09029 (Reference SC26821800). Update information is planned for NEW release after 3.2.0 QMF. * ** This informational APAR describes the changes which will be made into the next release of the QMF Planning and Administration Guide for MVS Version 3 Release 1.1 SC26472100 The following changes will be made to the next update to this information. 1) PN48656 - Changes the following information Book Title: PAGMVS Pages: Specified below Change Description: Because the Planning and Administration books are being revised in form and content for this information, the changes for this APAR apply to the 3.1.1 library. In QMF 3.2, the Managing QMF books are being revised to drop support for OS COBOL. In addi- tion the changes for VS COBOL II are to be incorporated into the overall restructuring effort and the addition of COBOL/370. The following changes will be made if the 3.1.1 library is refreshed For OS/VS COBOL users: - There is no change for MVS. - In the Planning and Administration Guide for VM, step 4 on page 196 will be updated to state that it may only be loaded from TEXT decks. For VS COBOL II users: - For the Planning and Administration Guide for MVS, replace the example JCL on page 262 with the following: . // EXEC COB2C,<COBOL parameters here> //COB2.SYSIN DD DSN=<DSQUCBL source file name>,DISP=SHR // EXEC COB2CL,<COBOL parameters here> //COB2.SYSIN DD DSN=<DSQUXDT source file name>,DISP=SHR //LKED.QMFLOAD DD DSN=QMF311.DSQLOAD,DISP=SHR //LKED.SYSIN DD * INCLUDE QMFLOAD(DSQUXIC) INCLUDE SYSLIB(IGZERRE) ENTRY DSQUXIC MODE AMODE(31) RMODE(ANY) NAME DSQUEDIT(R) /* - Note that it is valid to call IGZERRE in LE/370 or VS COBOL II. - In the Planning and Administration Guide for VM, replace the example on page 197 in step 5 with the following: GLOBAL TXTLIB <your TXTLIBs, VSC2LTXT TXTLIB, etc> LOAD DSQUXIC DSQUCBL DSQUXDT IGZERRE (RLDSAVE RESET DSQ GENMOD DSQUEDIT (<genmod parms> where <genmod parms> may be AMODE, RMODE, etc. The following information would be added to the text for 3.1.1 (on page 197 in the PAG for VM; on page 262 in the PAG for MVS): IGZERRE is used to initialize the VS COBOL II run time environment if it is part of the DSQUEDIT MODULE or member DSQUEDIT of the MVS load library. At QMF termination, if the initial call to IGZERRE was successful, a call to IGZERRE to terminate the environment is made. If the initialization call was unsuccessful for any reason, the termination call is not made. The call is unsuccessful if the COBOL environment already exists. QMF leaves it intact for the program that created the environment to delete it. In certain circumstances, user edit performance can degrade during a single QMF session. The performance degradation can be caused if the COBOL environment that existed at the time DSQUXDT was first called, was later destroyed. The environment might be destroyed if a COBOL callable interface application program was running in a QMF PROC at the time the user edit code was first called. When this program ends, the environment is destroyed. Following this, each call to the user edit code constructs and destroys a COBOL environment, and has an adverse affect on performance of subsequent calls to the user edit routine. 2) PMR 6X643, B452 - Changes the following information Book Title: PAGMVS Pages: 179 Change Description: In PAGMVS 3.1.1, page 179, the example in item 1 read: CICS QMFP (TERMID=FREETERM,FROM='QMFREPT') In comment 9609 of the revufile MQMVS II1, the phrase TERMID=FREETERM was removed. The example now reads: CICS QMFP (FROM='QMFREPT') 3) PMR 6E430, B060 - Changes the following information Book Title: PAGMVS Pages: 216 Change Description: Allocating DSQSPILL in a batch job The following test is in the DSQSPILL section of the new 'Managing QMF for MVS' as updated in the II1 review: A spill file is useful for improving performance in an interactive QMF session when the DSQSMODE parameter is set to I. However, if you are running QMF noninteractively (the DSQSMODE parameter is set to B), using a spill file can also improve performance when multiple passes of the data are required to produce the report. A spill file might also be necessary to complete the data object, as when a RUN QUERY command is followed by a SAVE DATA command.
