Error description

  • Msgief245i inconsistent unit name and volume serial
    received for a job containing a dd card which specified
    UNIT=ADDRESS where ADDRESS was a d/t3480 ( 3480 ) tape
    drive. This demand request received the message even though
    no volume serial was coded and a data set was being created.
    If UNIT parameter was changed to specify UNIT=TAPE, the
    job ran successfully.
    This problem has been determined to be caused by an oem product
    which influences allocation processing. Please see scratch
    pad for more details.

Local fix

  • Modify JCL to not use demand request for the dd statement
    (ie. change UNIT=ADDRESS to UNIT=XXXX where XXXX is a generic
    or esoteric) or exclude the dd statement from the oem products
    control.
