Error description

  • MSGIOS500I text may be somewhat misleading or confusing.  The
MVS SYSTEM MESSAGES VOLUME 3 publication has been updated to
clarify this message, however this informational apar is
created to further document the message.

MSGIOS500I ACTIVATE RESULTS
           COMPID= THE 5-CHARACTER IDENTIFIER OF THE SYSTEM
                   WHERE THE ERROR OCCURRED. FOR EXAMPLE SC1C3
                   IS IOS AND SC1XL IS HCD.

Depending on what compid is in this field the message note and
reason may be further clarifed, ie:
  IOS500I ACTIVATE FAILED
          NOTE=A842
          COMPID=SC1XL
          REASON=A816
Since the compid is SC1XL the note and reason should be
prefixed with the HCD message prefix CBD.  Therefore the note
would be equivalent to MSG CBDA842 and the reason MSG CBDA816.
.
If the compid was SC1C3 then a prefix of IOS would be used
before the note and/or reason.
