Error description
566431801 R220 R230 IPF This APAR was opened to provide a cross reference for various IPF code-related problems that, for whatever reason, cannot reasonably be resolved in the current release. . Problem : The VMUTIL machine tells the operator to mount a tape even though the mount request has already been satisfied once. Cause : The exec DTR$WAIT, which runs on the disconnected VMUTIL machine, wakes up every two minutes to see if the requestor's mount request has been satisfied. If, during this two minute period, the tape is mounted, used, and detached, DTR$WAIT will still think that the request has not been satisfied since the drive is not attached to the user ID. Bypass : If desired, this polling period may be decreased to a period of time that is too small to cause this condition. To do this, perform the following steps: 1) XEDIT the DTR$WAIT exec. 2) Locate the line that reads: &IF &RETCODE = 0 &MIN = +2 3) If you want the polling to take place, say, every 30 seconds, change the line to: &IF &RETCODE = 0 &MIN = +00:00:30 4) FILE it. Caution : In addition to polling the tape drive every 30 seconds, VMUTIL will now also send a message to the operator every 30 seconds, asking for the tape mount. PROBLEM: CLRSCRN module is not copied to the Maint 19E disk during installation of VM/IPF 2.3. The CLRSCRN module needs to be manually copied to MAINT's 19E disk from MAINT's 310 disk if general access to this utility is desired.
