  • THE PURPOSE OF THIS APAR IS TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE IN DEBUGGING
    OVERALL RETURN CODES FOR NDF FROM THE GENERATION REPORT.
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • NDF CREATES THE GENERATION REPORT THAT GIVES RETURN CODES
    FOR THE GENERATION DEFINITION AND FOR EACH OF THE TABLE
    ASSEMBLIES.
    USE SC30-3348, THE CHAPTER ENTITLED "GENERATING THE PROGRAM",
    TO DETERMINE THE MEANING OF THE OVERALL RETURN CODE.
    FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE TABLE 1 RETURN CODE, LOOK AT
    THE TBL1LIST LISTING. IN THE "EXAMPLES OF JCL FOR GENERATION",
    THE TBL1LIST IS SHOWN AS A TEMPORARY DATASET. TO SEE TABLE 1
    ASSEMBLY ERRORS, YOU MUST MAKE THE DATA SET PERMANENT SO THAT
    THE ASSEMBLY LISTING CAN BE VIEWED AFTER JOB TERMINATION.

    SOME CAUSES OF TABLE1 ERRORS ARE:
    
    1) MSGIHR044 UNDEFINED SYMBOL CXTPSB (MVS/VM)
       MSGIFZ156 SYMBOL CXTPSB UNDEFINED (VSE)
         THE ABOVE MESSAGES, FOLLOWED BY MANY OTHER ERRORS, ARE
       RECEIVED WHEN THERE IS A MISMATCH BETWEEN THE TYPE OF GEN
       BEING DONE AND THE MACRO LIBRARIES BEING POINTED AT FOR THE
       ASSEMBLY STEP.
         THE TYPE OF GEN IS DEFINED BY FOUR MAJOR KEYWORDS ON THE
       BUILD DEFINITION STATEMENT, THEY ARE: VERSION, MODEL, TYPGEN,
       AND TYPSYS.
         IN AN MVS GEN THE MACRO LIBRARY IS POINTED AT IN THE SYSLIB
       DD CARD AND IN VM THE SYSLIB FILEDEF.  IN A VSE GEN THE MACRO
       LIBRARY IS POINTED AT BY THE 'LIBDEF SOURCE SEARCH' PRO-
       CEEDING THE ASSEMBLY STEP.
         IF THE ABOVE MESSAGES ARE RECEIVED THE FOUR MAJOR KEYWORDS
       SHOULD BE REVIEWED AS WELL AS THE MACRO LIBRARY BEING POINTED
       AT TO MAKE SURE THEY MATCH.
    EX. MSGIFZ121 Illegal Character in Expression DC AL1().
        Multiple occurrences of this message in the initial gen
        following the installation of a NEW NCP can be the result
        of not having coded the correct VERSION on the BUILD state-
        ment.  In addition to this message, there will be a MNOTE
        indicating VERSION/LEVEL specified is incorrect.  If this
        message and mnote is recieved, verify the correct VERSION
        was specified or ensure that NDF is pointing at the correct
        product libraries.
          Also, be sure that the NDF run ended clean....
          eg. return code less than 4.  Check the NDF output
          for any INCxxx messages other than INC076I.
    2) MSGIHR057 UNDEFINED OPERATION CODE.  (MVS/VM)
       MSGIFZ097 UNDEFINED OPCODE OR MACRO NOT FOUND.  (VSE)
         THE ABOVE MESSAGES ARE RECEIVED ON THE PCCU, GROUP, LINE
       AND OTHER DEFINITION STATEMENTS WHEN A GEN IS ATTEMPTED
       WITHOUT NDF.  PRIOR TO SSP V3 GENS WERE DONE BY EXECUTING
       AN ASSEMBLER AGAINST THE GEN DECK.  WITH SSP V3 AND HIGHER
       GENS MUST BE DONE BY EXECUTING NDF (NETWORK DEFINTION FA-
       CILITY) AGAINST THE GEN DECK.  IN MVS AND VM ICNRTNDF IS
       EXECUTED AND IN VSE IT IS ICNDNDF.  SEE THE GENERATION AND
       LOADING GUIDE SC30-3348 FOR INSTRUCTIONS AND EXAMPLES OF
       DOING GENS WITH NDF.
    3) INCOMPATIBLE FMIDS. (EG. HNC3103 & HEP1105 OR
       HNC4105 & HEP1205)
    4) USER DID NOT INSTALL *ALL* OF THE PRODUCT. (NCP WITHOUT THE
       COMMON CODE, SUCH AS HNC3106/HNC3107.  CAN ALSO BE EP WITHOUT
       COMMON CODE.)
    5) MSGIHR044, 'UNDEFINED SYMBOL' FLAGGING THE GROUP NAME SPEC-
       IFIED ON THE SDLCST DEFINITION STATEMENT.  THIS HAPPENS BE-
       CAUSE THE GROUP NAME DOES NOT MATCH THE PRIMARY OR SECONDARY
       GROUP NAME SPECIFIED. THE IHR044 CAN OCCUR BY INCORRECTLY
       SPECIFYING THE SDLCST=(PRISDLC,SECSDLC) ON THE LINE DEFINI-

         THESE MESSAGES CAN BE RECEIVED WHEN VERSION DOES NOT EQUAL

       CODE VERSION=V4R3.1.  (ONE SHOULD ALWAYS INSURE THAT THE

    10) MSGICN941I NOT ENOUGH VIRTUAL STORAGE TO RUN NDF   (7/25/91)
        THE CAUSE OF THIS MESSAGE MAY BE THAT ESA AND XA
        USERS ARE NOT RUNNING IN 370 COMPATIBILITY MODE.
        THE RECOMMENDED AMOUNT OF STORAGE FOR NDF IS 6M.
    11) ****NCP Version 4 Release 2 Feature Users****
        MSGIHR044 for CXTPSB and many others will be received if
        the incorrect version is coded.  Version=V4R2F must be
        coded if FMID JNC4204 is installed.

        the gen is run with FASTRUN=ON and the linkage editor is
        invoked.
    13) MSGIFZ010 Op code Missing
        MSGIFZ027 Non-blank character before continuation column
        When IFZASM is used to assemble an NCP.  The Job consists
        of one large file with three assemble files, separated
        by '/*'.  The '/*' is not being handled properly, and VSE
        is losing its positioning in the input file.  VSE APAR
        DY41157 or equivalent needs to be installed.
    14) If MSG0S03I Program Check Interruption CC=0, Protection
        Exception is received and REGISTER 1 points to the CCB,
        which is the beginning of the DTF, increase the size
        associated with the file name in the DTF.(IJSYS001,
        IJSYS002, etc.)
    15) MSGIEW2370S Invalid RECFM for SYSLIN message received when
        NDF is invoked with the FASTRUN option and linkage
        editor(BINDER) invoked.  FASTRUN performs a gen deck
        validation without invoking the assembler or linkage
        editor. Therefore, the input files to both of these
        processes are empty and it causes the error to occur for
        the linkage editor/binder
