Error description

  • Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager for Microsoft Exchange Server
fails with the following error when using the GUI to restore a
database with a space in the database name:
Error: A positional parameter cannot be found that accepts
argument
'<part of database name>'.InvalidArgument: (:)
[Get-MailboxDatabase], ParameterBindingException

Local fix

  • Use the CLI to restore the database, or use the GUI to "restore
INTO" an alternate database that does not have a space in the
name

RECOMMENDATION
 Apply fixing level when available. This fix is currently
projected to be available in:
   Data Protection for Microsoft Exchange Server 7.1.0.1.
           FlashCopy Manager for Microsoft Exchange Server
4.1.0.1
Until a FlashCopy Manager for Microsoft Exchange component fix
is available, FlashCopy Manager customers may install and use a
fixed level of the Tivoli Storage Manager for Mail: Data
Protection for Exchange component fix in their environment. The
Data Protection for Microsoft Exchange fix provides equivalent
functionality to FlashCopy Manager for Microsoft Exchange when
used in FlashCopy Manager environment.

Problem conclusion

  • When using FlashCopy Manager and Data Protection for Microsoft
Exchange Server GUI on Windows, it has been updated to correctly
    1. restore databases that contain a space in the database
name.
    2. restore INTO a database with a space in the name.
