IC99652: "END SNAP-IN" MESSAGE APPEARS DURING LONG RUNNING OPERATIONS WITH FLASHCOPY MANAGER ON WINDOWS

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • During some long running operations with Tivoli Storage
    FlashCopy Manager for Windows, a "pop-up" may display a dialog
    with the message:
    End Snap-in.
    This snap-in is not responding.
    To return to MMC and check the status of the snap-in, click
    Cancel.
    End Now  Cancel
    If the "End Now" option is selected, the MMC console will close
    and the long running operation, and any queued operations, will
    be terminated. To allow the process to keep running, return to
    MMC, and check the status of the snap-in, click the "Cancel."
    option. Clicking "Cancel" will close the "End Snap-in" pop-up
    dialog and allow the user to return to the MMC window. The
    dialog may be opened more times during the same long running
    command.
    

Local fix

  • Choose the "Cancel" option to return to the MMC console. This
    will allow the process to continue.

Problem conclusion

  • The code has been updated so that long running "Mailbox
    Restore" or "Mailbox Restore Browser" operations will not
    cause the "End Snap-in" pop-up
    dialog.
