Error description

• Trying to automate the Terminal Emulator (IBM PCOMM), using
  Excel macros.
  
  Set Obj = CreateObject("PCOMM.autECLPS")
  Obj.setconnectionbyname ("A")
  
  When the macro runs the error displayed is:
  
  Microsoft VB for Application - Run time error 429 - ActiveX
  component can't create object
  
  When debugging the code, right at the step where we are
  creating the automation object we see this error:
  
  Microsoft VB for Application - License information for this
  component not found. You do not have an appropriate license to
  use this functionality in the design environment

  IBM Personal Communications provides 32-bit Automation Object
  APIs and these may not work when called from 64-bit Microsoft
  Office programs.
  

Problem conclusion

• This is a permanent restriction as IBM Personal Communications
  only provides 32-bit Automation objects.
