Error description
After backing up a remote shared directory whose structure includes a volume mount point, the Tivoli Storage Manager client GUI restore operation will not display any objects under the mount point. No error messages are displayed in the GUI or written to dsmerror.log. Customer/L2 Diagnostics: The error scenario can be recreated using the following steps: Steps 1 - 5 are performed on machine1. 1. Create a disk E: with some files on it. 2. Create a disk L: Note: the drive letters do not really matter, but they are just an example. 3. Create directory L:\Test\Backup 4. Use mountvol to mount E: on L:\Test\Backup 5. Use the dir command to verify that L:\Test\Backup now appears as a junction Steps 6 and 7 are performed on machine2. 6. On machine 2, use Tivoli Storage Manager client commandline to back up machine1's L:\Test\Backup directory. dsmc i \\machine1\l$\Test\Backup\ -subdir=yes 7. On machine 2, use the Tivoli Storage Manager client GUI to try to restore data from \\machine1\l$\Test\Backup. No objects under Backup are displayed. Problem conclusion
The problem has been fixed so that now TSM GUI allows expanding a directory mount point on restore in case there are some file underneath.
