Error description

  • PLATFORMS AFFECTED: ALL
    VERSIONS AFFECTED: 6.1, 6.2, 6.3
USERS AFFECTED: ALL TIVOLI STORAGE MANAGER SERVER USERS OF
    DEDUPLICATION

In cases where data which initially exists in a deduplicated
pool, is moved out of that pool to another pool (deduped or not)
and then is moved back into the original pool using MOVE
    NODEDATA, invalidated links may result.

The invalidated links will surface after

MOVE NODEDATA has been issued and the data is accessed again. If
the invalidated links have not been repaired, or re-linked, they
will be marked as damaged once accessed again.
Once the invalidated extents have been marked as damaged, any
attempt to access these files will result in a damaged indicator
message and failure to either move, copy or retrieve the files.

    Customer/L2 Diagnostics
    -----------------------
If the data movement scenario, as described above, has been
encountered, the VALIDATE EXTENTS utility can be used
to proactively check for invalidated links. This utility will
check for damaged or invalidated links, and if found, will mark
the file(s)as damaged such that they can be restored from an
    available copy pool.

NOTE: The trigger and symptom for this APAR is related to
    IC90390.
It is also similar to IC82573 although the root cause is not
    related
