IC96820: THE COMMAND LINE INTERFACE PRODUCES CWZCI0007E: AN ERROR OCCURRED WHILE COMMUNICATING WITH THE APPLIANCE AT <HOSTNAME>

Error description

• When connecting to the system using the command line interface
  (CLI) the following error might be encountered:
  CWZCI0007E: An error occurred while communicating with the
  appliance at <hostname>
  
  Example:
  pure -a -h purehost.sample.com
  CWZCI0007E: An error occurred while communicating with the
  appliance at purehost.sample.com
  
  This problem is related to running the CLI using the Java JDK
  1.7.
  

Local fix

• Use the system IP address instead of the hostname in the command
  line interface invocation.
  

Problem summary

• A problem with the Java JDK 7  was being encountered when using
  the hostname of the system while setting up the connection to
  the system.
  

Problem conclusion

• The command line tool was modified to attempt to look up the IP
  address for the hostname if the error was encountered.
  This fix is included in a part of the command line tool that
  does not automatically update when a new version is detected on
  the server. You must re-install the command line tool to enable
  this fix. You must also specify the command line parameter to
  automatically accept the certificates from the system (-a or
  --acceptcert)
  

Temporary fix

• Use IP address rather than host name when connecting the
  command line tool to the PureApplication System.
