APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Websphere MQ Explorer allows the connection to remote queue
    managers
via an intermediate queue manager. When attempting to connect to
    an
FTE coordination queue manager using an intermediate queue
    manager it fails
with "BFGUI0004 Could not establish connection to the queue
    manager
as either the host or queue manager is unavailable."

Local fix

  • Websphere MQ Explorer FTE plug-in must be able to
directly connect to the queue manager to be used
as either the coordination or command QM.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
This issue affects users of WebSphere MQ Managed File Transfer
7.5 who are using the New Managed File Transfer Configuration
Wizard within MQ Explorer to define a new configuration and
are specifying an intermediate queue manager as either the
    coordination or command queue manager.

    Platforms affected:
Windows, Linux on x86, Linux on x86-64

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
Specifying a queue manager that has been connected via an
intermediate queue manager as either the Coordination or Command
Queue Manager is not a supported configuration.

The MQ Explorer New Managed File Transfer Configuration Wizard
incorrectly allowed users to select a queue manager connected
via an intermediate queue manager as either the coordination
or command queue manager as a result of that queue manager
    appearing in the selection window.

Problem conclusion

  • The WebSphere MQ Managed File Transfer plug-in to WebSphere MQ
Explorer has been modified to ensure that queue managers that
are connected via an intermediate queue manager do not appear in
the list of queue managers when a user creates a new
configuration using the New Managed File Transfer
    Configuration Wizard.
