Error description

  • A WebSphere MQ Managed File Transfer V7.5 file transfer is
    started and then the
destination agent is stopped immediately while the transfer is
    in flight.
After a few minutes restarting, the destination agent does not
continue the transfer causing the transfer to enter into a
    stalled state.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
When a transfer was started and the destination agent process
was immediately stopped or killed before the transfer completed,
then the transfer entered a recovery state when the transfer
acknowledgment timeout was reached (transferAckTimeout *
    transferAckTimeoutRetries).

Once the transfer was in the recovery state, if the
destination agent was then restarted, then the transfer did
not continue as expected. The transfer progress would then
    change to a 'stalled' state.

If a new transfer was started then this would run and also
restart the 'stalled' transfer. If no new transfer was started
then only restarting the source agent process would allow the
    'stalled' transfer to continue.

Problem conclusion

  • The WebSphere MQ Managed File Transfer logic has been modified
to resolve the issue and allow a transfer that has entered
recovery state to continue automatically once the destination
    agent has restarted.
