IC92483: OUT OF MEMORY ERROR USING PROCESS DESIGNER WHEN DEFAULT BROWSER IS IE 9

Error description

  • Process Designer crashes when used for a prolonged time. The
    crash manifests itself in two different ways,
    
    1. Generates dumps
    2. Crashes without any evidence of dumps
    
    Note: Increasing heapsize prolongs the time before crash.
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Out of Memory in Process Designer may occur on IE9 after a
    period of time.
    
    USER AFFECTED:
    Business Process Manager Advanced, Standard and Express Process
    Designer users
    
    PROBLEM DETAILED DESCRIPTION:
    Due to a memory leak in the SWT browser working within IE9,
    specifically , Out of Memory may occur after a period of time,
    crashing Process Designer. Identification of the issue is tied
    to the IE version.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Code path was changed so the native browser gets used, i.e.
    javascript invoked, only when Library gets modified.
    
    FIX AVAILABILITY:
    Fix for 8.0.1.1 is available on Fix Central. Search for IC92483.
    
    When download fix package from Fix Central, please ensure that
    the complimentary readme is also downloaded, as well as any
    pre-requisites' readmes, and they are reviewed thoroughly.
