APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• In case two separate sessions are established to the Tivoli
  Storage Manager server at nearly the same time, and the password
  for this client node has expired, both sessions will be forced
  to perform a password change.
  The first session will updates the password and password
  verification.
  Then, when the second session also updates the password, the
  server will return error:
  
  RC6 = DSM_RS_ABORT_BAD_VERIFIER.
  
  When the client gets this RC6, the password file TSM.PWD will be
  deleted when this entry is the only or last entry in the file.
  
  This problem was reported with the Tivoli Storage Manager
  Application Programming Interface (API), when RMAN started two
  sessions via Tivoli Storage Manager for Databases: Data
  Protection for Oracle in order to backup an Oracle instance.

Local fix

• In case it can not be avoided to start two sessions at a time -
  e.g. RMAN is configured to run two or more channels / sessions -
  remove password expiration for the affected node.
