Error description

  • When performing a WebSphere MQ trace and several queue managers
running with similar names, such as: MQAS09, MQAS091, MQAS092,
and MQAS093, trace files are generated for all of the queue
managers instead of just the one specified on the TRCMQM or
strmqtrc commands. For example, the following commands

    TRCMQM TRCLEVEL(*DETAIL) TRCTYPE(*ALL) MQMNAME(MQAS09)
    or
    strmqtrc -t all -t detail -m MQAS09

will generate trace files for queue managers:
    MQAS09, MQAS091, MQAS092, and MQAS093.

Problem summary

    USERS AFFECTED:
All users of WebSphere MQ who use trace functionality

    Platforms affected:
All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows)
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
The Queue Manager name specified as the input to TRCMQM or
strmqtrc command was not being matched correctly against the
names of all the other running queue managers. As a result,
trace was being generated for other queue managers with similar
    names.

Problem conclusion

  • The WebSphere MQ tracing code was modified to ensure the queue
manager name matching as well as wildcard characters (i.e.* and
    ?) matching is performed correctly.
