APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• If a consumer  thread fails to open a session with a Tivoli
  Storage Manager server due to a network communication error,
  the client backup may hang.
  
  Dsmsched.log file shows:

   21:03:42 ANS1017E Session rejected: TCP/IP connection failure

  After the ANS1017E  the backup continues but a few minutes
  later, the backup gets hung The client should retry the failed
  session, and stop with an error if a new session can not be
  opened.
  
  Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected:
     6.1 , 6.2 , 6.3 , 6.4
  
  Customer/L2 Diagnostics :
  
  Dsmerror.log shows  the following a few minutes before the last
  message in dsmsched.log :
  
   ANS5216E Could not establish a TCP/IP connection with address
  'xx.xx.xx.xx:1500'. The TCP/IP error is 'Unknown error' (errno =
  10060).
   ANS9020E Could not establish a session with a TSM server or
  client agent.  The TSM return code is -50.
   ANS0361I DIAG: psthread.cpp        ( 574): Destroy mutex
  failed; reason 6.
   ANS1017E Session rejected: TCP/IP connection failure
  
  A service trace shows the performance monitor thread thinks that
  there is one consumer in transit while actually there is none :
