Error description
The protocol bridge agent does not perform a user logout (i.e., does not send a QUIT command to the FTP(S) server) before it disconnects. Some FTP/FTPS servers may handle a client closing the connection without logout (QUIT) as an error. Therefore when transferring a file to a file server and not performing a logout prior to disconnecting may result in the file server treating the transfer as a failure and subsequently block application access to the transferred file.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: This issue affects users of the WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition protocol bridge agent connecting to an FTP or FTPS file server. Platforms affected: MultiPlatform **************************************************************** PROBLEM SUMMARY: The protocol bridge agent of WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition is used to send / receive files to an FTP or FTPS file server outside of WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition network. When the transfer has completed, the protocol bridge agent closes the connection to the external file server. Before closing the connection to the file server, the protocol bridge agent did not issue a QUIT command to logout the user used to connect to the file server. This caused some file servers, that require the FTP client to issue a QUIT command before disconnecting, as an error in transmission and to treat a file transfer as a failure.
Problem conclusion
A new protocol bridge agent property (that accepts a boolean "true" or "false" value) has been created that when set, instructs the protocol bridge agent to issue a QUIT command to the FTP(S) file server prior to closing the connection to it. This property is called, "protocolBridgeLogoutBeforeDisconnect" and can be set within the agent.properties file for the protocol bridge agent by adding the line: protocolBridgeLogoutBeforeDisconnect=true By default, the value of this new property is false. This ensures that the protocol bridge agent will maintain current behaviour and disconnect without issuing a QUIT command. --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following PTFs: Platform v7.5 -------- -------------------- Multiplatforms 7.5.0.2 Platform v7.0 -------- -------------------- Multiplatforms 7.0.4.3 The latest available maintenance can be obtained from 'WebSphere MQ Recommended Fixes' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006037 If the maintenance level is not yet available information on its planned availability can be found in 'WebSphere MQ Planned Maintenance Release Dates' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006309 ---------------------------------------------------------------
