APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When a large build up of messages occurs on the
SYSTEM.CLUSTER.TRANSMISSION.QUEUE, significant slow down is seen
in processing these messages (channel 'get' time).
This also affects other queues where multiple applications need
to perform 'Get by CorrelId' and the queue is allowed to grow
    deep.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users of WebSphere MQ on 32 bit distributed platforms who expect
a deep build up of messages on any queue from which applications
get messages by CorrelID. A common internal use of this
    function is the SYSTEM.CLUSTER.TRANSMIT.QUEUE

    Platforms affected:
All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows)
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
Contention between multiple getting applications causes delay in
retrieving correct message by correlation identifier. This is
not an issue on 64 bit platforms where an alternative mechanism
is used to retrieve the appropriate message, which has different
    performance characteristics.

Problem conclusion

  • The 'get message' functionality has been improved to reduce time
taken to identify messages for particular correlation identifier
and thereby reduce contention between processes.
