IC86673: Problems upgrading from IBM Systems Director Common Agent 6.2.x to 6.3 in Windows

Error description

  • Using the Agent Installation Wizard, attempting to install IBM
    Systems Director Common Agent 6.3 on a Windows endpoint that has
    an existing 6.2.x agent may fail due to various reasons.
    
    Impact:  You could be left with a partially installed endpoint
    that can't be managed properly.
    

Local fix

  • First uninstall the 6.2.x agent, reboot the system, and attempt
    the install of 6.3.0.  If you have trouble uninstalling 6.2.x,
    run the SysDirRemoval.exe tool provided on the 6.3.0 IBM Systems
    Director Server Install image.  It is in the "bin\." folder.  It
    will clean up any partially installed agent images.
    

Problem summary

  • Problems can occur during an upgrade from 6.2.x to 6.3 IBM
    Systems Director Common Agents in Windows.
    This problem has been fixed in the 6.3.1 IBM Systems Director
    Common Agent.  Make sure your IBM Systems Director Server is at
    6.3.1 or later, and use the 6.3.1 IBM Systems Director Common
    Agent package to upgrade over 6.2.x agents.

Problem conclusion

    6.3.2.
