Error description

  • WebSphere MQ v7.0 Multi-threaded client applications hang with
    no error Messages.
    A process dump loaded in WinDebug shows a large number of
    threads in the operating system WaitForSingleObject API call
    under amqxcs2!xcsRequestThreadMutexSem, indicating the threads
    are waiting on a Mutex.
    

Local fix

Problem summary

    USERS AFFECTED:
    Users using multi threaded client application which connects to
    WebSphere MQ V7 queue managers.
    
    Platforms affected:
    All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows)
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
    Multi-threaded client application that repeatedly connects and
    disconnects from a V7 queue manager hangs. The hang is noticed
    if the shared conversation of the channel is greater than 1.
    The locking contention among the threads results in a deadlock
    while waiting for the Mutex held by each other.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The code is modified to eliminate the dead lock situation when
    multiple threads simultaneously connect and disconnect.
