APAR status

Error description

  • When using WMQFTE Source or Destination transfer user exits, the
'before' transfer interface returns a TransferExitResult.
This object contains a code and a message.
The code can only be one of two values either "proceed" or
"cancel".
If the user exit detects an error condition which requires it to
stop the transfer it has to use the "cancel" result code.
That will result in the MQ Explorer showing that the transfer
was canceled (instead of ending in error).
This is working as designed.

However the message that is provided as part of the
TransferExitResult is not displayed.
The message should be displayed so the operator will know how
and why the transfer was canceled.
When looking at the details in the transfer log only the message
provided in the XML of the TransferExitResult is shown.

Problem summary

  • The IBM WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition plugin for IBM
WebSphere MQ Explorer will not show supplement information for
cancelled transfers despite it being available in the transfer
log. For a user exit this supplement will contain the reason the
transfer was cancelled.

USERS AFFECTED:
Users relying on the TransferExitResult object cancel code
returned from their user exit.

PLATFORMS AFFECTED:
All

Problem conclusion

  • The code has been altered to ensure that supplement data for
cancelled transfers is displayed to the user in the IBM
WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition WebSphere MQ Explorer plugin.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix
pack 7.0.4.2.
