Error description

  • Using WebSphere MQ V7 on Windows, a queue manager hangs after
multiple large FDC files are generated in a loop for different
    processes with the following information:
    Probe Id :- XC457000
    Component :- xcsRefreshMTime
    Major Errorcode :- xecU_E_TIME_ERROR
    The stack trace shows:
    xcsQueryMTimeFn
    xcsRefreshMTime
    xcsFFST

The only way to recover from this situation is to restart the
Windows system, neither a stop of the queue manager nor a stop
of the WebSphere MQ service resolved the problem.

The use of the environment variable AMQ_USE_SYSTEM_TIME did
not help prevent the hang from reoccurring.

Anyone using a time server to synchronize the time of their
    queue manager system.

    Windows

    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
The problem was caused by a logic error in the MQ routines
responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the current time to
microsecond granularity. A change to the system time of a
machine caused MQ to be unable to calculate the time to
microsecond granularity, but it then began to infinitely loop in
this state, producing many large FDC files.

Problem conclusion

  • The MQ routines responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the
current time to microsecond granularity have been altered not to
loop when microsecond time cannot be calculated. A single FDC
    file will still be generated.
