Error description

  • When using the "SSL Refresh" option from within the WebSphere MQ
Explorer V7, the following error message is observed:

An unexpected error (2033) has occurred. (AMQ4999).

The 2033 translates as the WebSphere MQ return code
'MQRC_NO_MSG_AVAILABLE'. The SSL Refresh command completes
successfully, even though WebSphere MQ Explorer reported the
error. No FDCs are generated and no AMQ errors are written to
    the log file locations.

Local fix

  • LOCAL FIX:
Issue the following command from runmqsc:
    REFRESH SECURITY TYPE(SSL)

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
    This issue affects users of:

    - The WebSphere MQ V7.0.1 WebSphere MQ Explorer
    - The WebSphere MQ V7.1 WebSphere MQ Explorer

that use the Security->Refresh SSL... operation to refresh the
SSL channels that have been defined on a queue manager.

    Platforms affected:
    Linux (Power),Linux (x86),Linux (x86-64),Windows

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
When a queue manager is selected in WebSphere MQ V7 Explorer,
and the Security->Refresh SSL... operation is requested, a
WebSphere MQ PCF message containing the command
'MQCMD_REFRESH_SECURITY' is generated and sent to the queue
manager. The queue manager processes the command, restarts all
of its running SSL channels, and then returns a response to the
    WebSphere MQ Explorer.

WebSphere MQ Explorer waited a maximum of 30 seconds for the
queue manager to process the 'MQCMD_REFRESH_SECURITY' command
and return a response. If no response was received within 30
seconds, WebSphere MQ Explorer displayed an error dialog
    containing the following message:

"An unexpected error (2033) has occurred. (AMQ4999)."

This messages gave the impression that the Security->Refresh
SSL... operation had failed, when in actuality the operation
could still have been running, to complete some time after
the error message had been displayed.

Problem conclusion

  • The WebSphere MQ Explorer has been updated to display the
following message if the Security->Refresh SSL... operation is
run and no response is received from the queue manager within
    30 seconds:

"No response was received from the queue manager to report the
outcome of the Refresh SSL operation within the timeout period.
WebSphere MQ Explorer is no longer monitoring the status of
this operation, which can take up to 10 minutes to complete.
    (AMQ4562)"
