APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The agent of Websphere MQ File Transfer Edition V7.0.3 handles
several transfers, one of the transfers fails with error:
    c.i.wmqfte.wmqiface.WMQApiFailureException(WMQApiException)--  {
    <init> [2] [2063] [testAuthority - MQOPEN] ...
    Error 2063 means MQRC_AUTHORITY_ERROR

The agent tries to recover MQRC_SECURITY_ERROR and the whole
agent is put into recovery. As consequence all transfers are
    also stopped during the recovery.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • The agent terminates because it treats the MQRC_SECURITY_ERROR
as unrecoverable. The queue manager can return
MQRC_SECURITY_ERROR if, for example, LDAP is temporarily
unavailable. This is not desirable as a restart of the LDAP
server will cause all the agents connected to the queue manager
using that LDAP server to end.

If the iFix for APAR IC75688 is applied the WebSphere MQ File
Transfer Edition (WMQFTE) v7 agent handles the
MQRC_SECURITY_ERROR reason code as recoverable. This causes the
entire agent to go into recovery interrupting all transfers. If
the LDAP configuration consists of multiple domains a failure of
one of the domains will affect transfers for users on other
    domains.

    USERS AFFECTED:
All users making use of WebSphere MQ Security

    PLATFORMS AFFECTED:
    All

Problem conclusion

  • The agent code has been updated so that if an
MQRC_SECURITY_ERROR reason code is returned while testing
whether a user is allowed access to WebSphere MQ File Transfer
Edition resources using the authority queues the user is not
authorised to access the resource. This will cause affected
operations to fail because they are not authorised but the agent
will not be put into recovery.
