APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition (WMQFTE) transfer of a text
  file will hang if old .part files exist in the destination
  directory.  An old .part file will have the name
  <destinationFileName>.part.
  
  The symptom of this problem is that the file is actually
  transferred but the transfer completion message is never
  published, and so the transfer appears to have hung.
  
  Normally .part files are deleted if a transfer failure occurs.
  However if a recovery is performed, .part files may remain.
  WMQFTE attempts to clean up these .part files when a transfer
  completes.  For transfers of text files, a hang will occur when
  the delete is attempted.
  

Local fix

• Manually remove any .part files before attempting a new
  transfer.  This can cause problems if the incorrect .part file
  is removed.  If in doubt please contact IBM Service or apply
  maintenance that includes this APAR.
  

Problem summary

• The hang was caused by the agent waiting for a lock to delete
  the old .part file.  However the lock required was for the the
  same channel that had already been locked and so the thread
  hangs waiting to acquire the lock.

Problem conclusion

• This APAR resolves the hang by checking the channel before
  attempting to lock the file.  If the lock is already acquired,
  then the thread does not attempt to lock it again.
