APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The WebSphere MQ XMS application that invokes an MQGET call with
an infinite wait interval hangs when the connection is closed.
This problem occurs only if the GET is issued against an alias
queue. If the application is run as a Windows service then the
service loops and never ends when the service is stopped.

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
If a WebSphere MQ XMS .NET application is connected to a V7
queue manager to retrieve messages from an alias queue with an
infinite wait set then the connection does not end if the
application wishes to close the connection. Before closing the
connection a notification is sent to the server to cancel the
wait on the MQGET request. However, if the MQGET is issued on
an alias queue then the queue manager agent process fails to
locate the waiter since the list of waiters is prepared based
on the base queue definition. Hence, the application keeps
waiting on MQGET and it never ends unless the application
process is forcefully terminated or the queue manager is
    stopped.

Problem conclusion

  • WebSphere MQ code has been modified so that when the queue
manger agent process receives an MQRC_XWAIT_CANCELED event it
searches for the base queue definition in the list of waiters
rather than the alias queue definition.
