Error description
A WebSphere MQ Client application continuously generates FDCs when connecting to a queue manager using SSL enabled MQI channels. The FDCs report the following informati: Probe Id :- XC006001 Component :- xcsFreeMemFn Process Name :- XXXXXXXXXX.exe Major Errorcode :- xecS_I_PRIVATE_MEMORY_ERROR Comment1 :- invalid tail tag ---------------------------------------- MQM Function Stack ImqObject::open ImqQueueManager::connect MQCONN trmzstMQCONNX reqDoConnect reqSelectChannelEntry cccFreeMem xcsFreeMemFn xcsFFST Other function stacks can also occur, but they will always end with xcsFreeMemFn and the FDC Tail tag will contain the same data as in SSLPeername of Channel Control Block. Note that other issues can also cause probe XC006001 to occur, this APAR is specific to the case when Tail tag is being overwritten by the SSLPeername data.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere MQ Client applications which connect to the queue manager using SSL enabled MQI channels. Platforms affected: All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows) **************************************************************** PROBLEM SUMMARY: The invalid tail tag FDC is cut because a memory corruption happens while copying the SSL Distinguished Name from the SSL certificate to the channel definition due to incorrect manipulation of the SSLPeerNamePtr.
Problem conclusion
The WebSphere MQ code has been modified such that SSLPeerNamePtr is manipulated correctly. --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following PTFs: v7.0 Platform Fix Pack 7.0.1.7 -------- -------------------- Windows U200333 AIX U843721 HP-UX (PA-RISC) U844089 HP-UX (Itanium) U844094 Solaris (SPARC) U844090 Solaris (x86-64) U844096 iSeries tbc_p700_0_1_7 Linux (x86) U844091 Linux (x86-64) U844095 Linux (zSeries) U844092 Linux (Power) U844093 The latest available maintenance can be obtained from 'WebSphere MQ Recommended Fixes' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006037 If the maintenance level is not yet available, information on its planned availability can be found in 'WebSphere MQ Planned Maintenance Release Dates' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006309 ---------------------------------------------------------------
