APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When converting a trial install to production using the setmqprd
    command, the license file gets correctly updated to production.
    However, the registry shows that the LicenseType=trial.
    

Local fix

Problem summary

    USERS AFFECTED:
    Users of WebSphere MQ who transition from a trial to production
    license.
    
    Platforms affected:
    Windows

    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
    When a user transitions from a trial license of WebSphere MQ to
    a production license using the setmqprd command, the registry
    was not updated to reflect the transition to production license.
    The LicenseType value in the registry still showed 'trial' even
    after a successful transition to production. Customers who have
    previously run setmqprd to convert from a trial to a
    production license must change the registry entry
    (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\MQSeries\CurrentVersion
    \LicenseType) manually.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The code for setmqprd was modified to alter the registry value
    of LicenseType to 'prod' after a successful transition to a
    production license.
