Error description

  • A WebSphere MQ v7 Java Message Service (JMS) application has an
asynchronous session that subscribes to a durable topic,
receives a few messages and then closes the JMS message consumer
    using consumer.close().

When the application tries to subscribe to the topic again it
    is getting the following error:
    com.ibm.msg.client.jms.DetailedJMSException: JMSWMQ0026:
Failed to subscribe to topic 'A_TOPIC' using MQSUB. There
may have been a problem creating the subscription due to it
being used by another message consumer. Make sure any
JMSWMQ0025 Failed to unsubscribe from topic 'A_TOPIC' using
MQCLOSE. There might have been a problem removing the
subscription because it is being used by a message consumer.
Make sure any message consumers using this subscription are
    closed before unsubscribing.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
This issue affects users of the WebSphere MQ JMS classes who use
durable subscribers with asynchronous message consumers.

    Platforms affected:
All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows) +Java
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
The problem occurred due the subscriber object associated with
the message consumer not being closed internally.

Problem conclusion

  • The fix ensures that the subscriber object is closed. This will
not unsubscribe from the topic, it will only close the
subscription object that is in use. The client can again
subscribe to the same topic with the same name used to identify
    this subscription.
